Aqua superPower and Hellonext Partner to Accelerate High-Speed Marine Charging Across Europe

Aqua superPower, the global marine fast-charging network, has announced a strategic partnership with Hellonext to deploy high-performance charging infrastructure across key European maritime hubs. The collaboration marks a significant shift in port electrification, moving beyond standard shore power to industrial-grade DC "supercharging" for the next generation of electric vessels.

Under the agreement, Hellonext—a specialist in EV charging solutions and part of the Petrotec Group—will serve as the strategic hardware provider for Aqua’s expanding network. The partnership integrates Hellonext’s high-performance DC charging units with Aqua’s "Neptune" digital ecosystem, creating a seamless Charge Point Operator (CPO) and e-Mobility Service Provider (eMSP) platform.

Standardizing the Waterfront

The maritime industry has long struggled with a fragmented charging landscape, often relying on slow AC connections designed for hotel loads rather than propulsion. This partnership aims to bridge that gap by offering DC fast-charging speeds of up to 400kW.

"By connecting Hellonext’s technology with Aqua’s Neptune platform, we’re enabling a seamless charging experience for ports, marinas, and electric boat owners," the company stated. The system provides 24/7 operational support and a fully integrated digital interface for billing and network management.

Mediterranean Expansion

The rollout is already seeing momentum in Spain, with three active charging sites and a primary focus on expanding across Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca. These locations serve as critical testing grounds for the European maritime energy transition, where high-traffic leisure and commercial vessel routes demand reliable, high-speed infrastructure.

For port authorities, the partnership offers a scalable "plug-and-play" solution to meet the growing demand for vessel electrification. By utilizing Hellonext’s hardware, Aqua can deploy stations that are interoperable and ready to handle various vessel types, from electric tenders to commercial ferries.

Strategic Alignment with EU Goals

The move aligns with the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) and FuelEU Maritime targets, which push for increased electrification and reduced greenhouse gas intensity in European waters. While many large-scale projects focus on container ship Onshore Power Supply (OPS), the Aqua-Hellonext alliance secures the infrastructure needed for the "middle-mile"—the smaller commercial and recreational vessels that make up a significant portion of daily port traffic.

As the partnership scales, the focus will remain on high-performance reliability and user accessibility, ensuring that the transition to electric boating is supported by a network as robust as its land-based counterparts.
