The Next Generation of Maritime Decarbonisation: Skills, Innovation and Intergenerational Fairness
Maritime decarbonisation will shape the industries, careers and communities that the next generation inherits. This keynote places young people at the centre of that transition, examining the skills, opportunities and influence they need to help drive it. Commissioner Micallef will explore how education and research can respond to industry needs in maritime technology, clean energy and engineering, alongside clearer pathways for young innovators and entrepreneurs to enter the sector. With intergenerational fairness as a guiding principle, the address will consider how young people can have a meaningful voice in decisions with lasting economic, environmental and social consequences and how the transition can deliver credible opportunities across Europe and the Mediterranean.
