Karl has a Master of Science degree from Chalmers University in Gothenburg. Karl Has previously worked at Volvo Cars for 20 years in many different capacities within powertrain development within both project and line management with many engine programs winning wards 10 best engines.
Within PowerCell Karl has held several positions in its growth phase in Product and Business development as well as operations. Many of the projects have resulted in many "firsts" in the fuel cell space including among others; first commercial airframe with fuel cells, longest flight with a fuel cell powered aircraft, the first and world's largest fuel cell installation onboard a ship.
MegaWatt Shore Power Without Grid Constraints: Alternative Pathways for Port Electrification
As ports accelerate the deployment of shore power, limited grid capacity has become one of the greatest barriers to large-scale electrification. This session explores alternative approaches to delivering megawatt-scale shore power without relying solely on conventional grid reinforcement. Drawing on practical experience and real-world applications, the presentation will examine how decentralised power generation can provide flexible, resilient and scalable energy solutions, enabling ports to accelerate electrification while supporting the transition towards integrated port energy systems.
